Ja Rule gives Fyre Fest update: “All guests are safe”

The luxury festival, co-founded by Ja Rule, was postponed this weekend.

Fyre Festival Ja Rule

Ja Rule has given an update on Fyre Festival following the festival’s closure this weekend.

Fyre Festival was due to take place this weekend and the weekend after in the Bahamas, with the likes of Major Lazer, Disclosure, Skepta and more booked to perform. Tickets ranged from $1,000 to $12,000

However, the event has been postponed after guests arrived to find the festival site under-prepared, with claims of no running water and catering only serving up bread, cheese and salad.

Following the festival’s closure, staff worked to evacuate attendees from the site. Some attendees claimed they were locked in a room at the airport for 2 hours with no air conditioning, water or food.

Ja Rule has now taken to Twitter to give an update on the situation, writing, “Relieved to share that all guest are safe, and have been sent the form to apply for a refund. Our deepest apologies…”

Ja Rule apologised about the festival’s failure earlier this weekend (April 28) but later stated: “this is NOT MY FAULT”.

The festival’s organisers issued a statement earlier on Friday (April 28), writing: “After assessing the situation this morning and looking at best options for our guests, we cannot move forward as we hoped we could. The festival is being postponed until we can further assess if and when we are able to create the high-quality experience we envisioned.”

Ja Rule, who organised the event alongside entrepreneur Billy McFarland, later posted his own apology to Twitter, writing: “We are working right now on getting everyone [off] the island SAFE… I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM… I truly apologize as this is NOT MY FAULT”.

Meanwhile, Fyre Festival founder and co-organizer, Billy McFarland has revealed that there will be another Fyre Festival happening next year. “We’re going to take every measure to make this right for everybody now, and make this right for everybody next year, on a large scale,” he said.

The Chainsmokers crashed an Illinois high-school prom

The duo later teased, ‘Your prom could be next’.

Chainsmokers crash prom

The Chainsmokers crashed a high school prom in Illinois last night (April 29).

The duo made a surprise appearance at Huntley High School’s senior prom, taking place at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.

The EDM producers are currently on tour and decided to crash the party as the hotel was located opposite the Allstate Arena, where they would later be playing a headline set.

‘Just crashed Huntley High schools prom! That was awesome! have a good rest of prom,’ they later tweeted. Before adding, ‘Your prom could be next’ prompting rumours that they could continue the surprise appearances.

‘Now back to all state arena cause we got a sold out show in an hour! Big up,’ they continued, before sharing a photo of the occasion captioned, ‘Crashed this prom just now. It was across the street from our arena show, so why not :)’. See the tweets below.

Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers misspelled Pittsburgh in an on-screen message thanking the US city’s fans at the end of a recent gig.

The duo played Pittsburgh last weekend (April 22), with a live review of the show describing how the pair suffered an embarrassing typo in a thank-you message to fans.

The band’s encore, according to the report, “was met with much applause, before being dampened with a misspelled ‘Thank You Pittsburg’ sign that came down at show’s end. It was obviously unfortunate, but even more so because Taggart made it a point to talk about how great the city had been to The Chainsmokers and not every city was as enthusiastic as Pittsburgh.”

After a photo of the mistake was circulated online, the duo took to Twitter to post a now-deleted message, saying: “lol totally putting our visual guy on blast for misspelling Pittsburgh at the end”.

‘The Godfather’ cast reunite for film’s 45th anniversary

Director Francis Ford Coppola was joined by the likes of Al Pacino, Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton.

Godfather cast reunite

The Godfather cast and director reunited yesterday (April 29) to talk of the film’s influence and legacy.

Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the reunion took place at Radio City Music Hall, as part of Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival.

Director Francis Ford Coppola was joined by Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire and James Caan, as well as Robert De Niro himself, who appeared in the 1974 sequel.

The event lasted nine hours, with screenings of The Godfather I and II as well as panels addressing the difficulty in making films of that calibre in the 1970s.

The panel shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes, with Coppola revealing that Al Pacino auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone six times. Coppola said that Pacino’s girlfriend called him, telling him he was torturing Pacino.

Watch video

According to the Guardian, the decision to cast Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone was also not an easy option; executives felt he would not be ‘commercially beneficial’.

It was later revealed that Coppola was only allowed to cast Brando if the actor would do a screen test for free and put up a $1million bond to ensure he wouldn’t cause trouble on set.

The filming process was also difficult, according to Pacino, who at one point in production cited The Godfather as ‘the worst film ever made’.

Coppola also commented on today’s film industry, saying that The Godfather wouldn’t ‘get a go-ahead’. “The first Godfather cost $6.5m and the second cost about $11m or $12m. If you convert that, it would take a major studio (to make it), but it would never get through the process of getting an OK,” he said.

“Nothing can get a green light unless it’s a movie that they can have a whole series of, or a Marvel comic.”

’13 Reasons Why’ soundtrack artist Car Seat Headrest slams the show

The Netflix teen drama has been criticized for ‘glorifying suicide’

Car Seat Headrest 13 Reasons Why

Car Seat Headrest has sided with the criticisms of popular Netflix teen drama 13 Reasons Why.

The show follows the story of a teenage girl who ultimately takes her own life, using flash backs of bullying and sexual assault. It has drawn criticisms from schools and parents who accuse the show’s makers of ‘glorifying suicide’.

A school in Minnesota recently notified parents of the show, warning that it offers a a problematic depiction of high-school life. New Zealand also created a entirely new rating for 13 Reasons Why which requires that those under 18 are only able to watch the show with a parent or guardian present.

Car Seat Headrest contributed his song ‘Oh! Starving’ to the soundtrack. Taking to Twitter today (April 30) he also voiced his concerns for the show.

‘as someone who contributed to the soundtrack for “13 Reasons Why”, I am obliged to tell you all that it’s kind of fucked,’ he wrote. ‘writers: please don’t tell kids how to turn their miserable and hopeless lives into a thrilling and cathartic suicide mission. kids: this is not a narrative you need to subscribe to. go watch ‘spring breakers’ instead.’ You can see the full tweets below.

Earlier this week (April 28), executive producer Selena Gomez responded to the criticisms stating: “We stayed very true to the book and that’s initially what [author] Jay Asher created was a beautifully tragic, complicated yet suspenseful story and I think that’s what we wanted to do. We wanted to do it justice and, yeah, [the backlash is] gonna come no matter what. It’s not an easy subject to talk about, but I’m very fortunate with how it’s doing.”

She also told E! News that the controversy could open up a dialogue about teen suicide, adding: “I just wanted it to come across in a way that kids would be frightened, but confused, and in a way that they would talk about it because it’s something that’s happening all the time.”

Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds troll Fyre Festival in new Hitman’s Bodyguard promos

“Did you say music festival in the Bahamas, Muthaf***a?”

Fyre Festival has been the victim of relentless online bullying over the weekend as reports of the terrible ‘luxury’ festival spread across the internet.

The two-weekender festival was supposed to take place in the Bahamas with the likes of Major Lazer, Disclosure and Skepta performing. Tickets cost a minimum of $1,000 and up to $12,000.

The event has been postponed after guests turned up to the festival site which was in a dire condition. There were reports of no running water and a catering service that only supplied bread, cheese and soggy salad.

Suffice to say, social media has been making a meal of mocking Fyre Festival en masse and all of its attendees. Including the team behind the upcoming action-comedy, ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds.

The movie’s Twitter account had a field day mocking Fyre festival posting clips of the movie with Fyre festival jokes posted over them.

It’s shameless marketing but it’s so rare to see the internet actually unite on anything.

Rapper Ja Rule, however, has tried to glaze over the absolutely pathetic festival organisation. Rule organised the event alongside Billy McFarland and has now apologised for the lack of preparation. That said, while the internet is speculating that this was one big hoax to con rich people out of their money, Rule was very explicit in his apology as to say that Fyre Festival “was NOT A SCAM”.

Only time will tell since McFarland has now announced that they plan on launching Fyre Festival next year, too.

Woman claims that Tom Hardy should ‘admit’ that moped incident wasn’t actually him

Carly Holder claims that it was her that actually made the citizen’s arrest.

A woman has come forward claiming that it was actually her that chased and citizen arrested a moped thief not Taboo actor Tom Hardy.

Hardy made headlines after reportedly helping to capture a moped thief by chasing him through London before announcing “I caught the c**t”.

The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star is said to have chased the thief through gardens and across a building site in south west London, before he “switched into super hero mode” and captured him himself before checking him for weapons and asking to see ID.

However, Carly Holder, an engineer and a DJ, told the Daily Mail this weekend (April 29) that it was actually her that apprehended the thief. She claimed that she was not looking for recognition but wanted the actor to “admit it wasn’t him”.

“It was me who chased the boy and hauled him back to the scene. I’m not seeking plaudits, but I would like Hardy to admit it wasn’t him.” Holder said, “No one who was there saw Hardy. I made the arrest. The police spoke to me afterwards and thanked me for it.”

Holder was at the scene having lunch with her partner in Richmond. She witnessed two teenagers on mopeds run a red light then smash into an Audi at the junction.

“One of the boys from the moped ran off down an alleyway. I didn’t stop to think, I just ran after him yelling, ‘Stop!’”. Holder pursued one of the teenagers for about 150 yards before catching him.

Tom Hardy’s representation have yet to respond to Holder’s claims. Meanwhile, a second series of ‘Taboo’ was recently confirmed for 2018.

R. Kelly sued for allegedly breaking up a couple’s marriage

Kelly has been accused of an affair that’s been going on for “years”.

R.Kelly has got himself into more legal bother as he is currently being sued for allegedly breaking up a couple’s marriage.

The suit was filed by a Mississippi sheriff’s deputy named Kenneth Bryant. He is claiming that his marriage with Asia Childress ended because of a “years long” affair with Kelly. Bryant is seeking unspecific damages, reports Billboard.

Bryant filed in Mississippi which is one of five states that allows for ‘alienation-of affection’ lawsuits. This means that an outside party can be held responsible by a spouse for breaking up a marriage.

Childress and Kelly had a relationship previous to Bryant’s involvement and marriage to Childress in 2012. The lawsuit claims, “Time after time, R. Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress’ vows”.

Kelly has not responded to the lawsuit yet.

This isn’t the first time R. Kelly has been called up on charges publicly. In 2002, Kelly denied that he was the man who appeared to be urinating on a girl in a sex tape. Later that year, he was indicted for counts of child pornography. In 2007, Kelly was found not guilty on all 14 counts levelled against him.

Late last year, a petition was launched, however, to kick R. Kelly from a festival bill and to call on organisers to “stop booking this man, stop promoting this man”.

The petition reads: “Let’s send a message that the music is not ‘separate’ and the abuse of girls and women is *never* okay, no matter who you are or how many timeless ballads you’ve contributed to the world.”

Will Ferrell performs as George Bush to take shots at Donald Trump

“How do you like me now?”

Last night marked comedian and TV host Samantha Bee’s ‘Not The White House Correspondents’ Dinner’ to rival the official political do. In the show’s final act, Will Ferrell appeared on stage in his hilarious George W. Bush persona.

He asked the anti-Trump crowd, “How do you like me know?”.

Ferrell, as Bush, launched into a monologue which ripped apart President Donald Trump. “For the longest time I was considered the worst president of all time,” he joked. “That has changed and it only took 100 days,” he added, calling himself “the Martin Van Buren of the 21st century.”

But Trump wasn’t the only commander-in-chief Ferrell had his sights locked onto. He spent as much time mocking Bush ‘s art habit. He joked that, as Bush, he’s debuting a follow-up book to his ‘Portraits in Courage’ aptly called ‘Portraits In Not Courage.’

On stage he showcased a low-effort painting of Trump, remarking “as you can see, I’ve exhausted my pallet of yellow and oranges”.

Watch Ferrell reprise his George W. impression below:

Maybe one day we’ll see a clash of Will Ferrell’s Bush with Alec Baldwin’s uncanny Donald Trump impression. In real and stranger news, however, it was recently reported that Baldwin is co-writing a book in character as Donald Trump.

In other news, Will Ferrell has been cast to play an ageing E-Sports competitor. The film will see Ferrell playing a past-his-prime member of an eSports team, in a sport where players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination.

Quentin Tarantino reveals behind-the-scenes secrets about ‘Reservoir Dogs’ for its 25th anniversary

For example, Tarantino nearly scrapped the entire film to turn it into a play.

Reservoir Dogs – UK
Reservoir Dogs – UK: Quentin Tarantino’s super-gory debut became a box office hit when it opened in UK cinemas in 1993, but it was banned on home video here until 1995. To meet demand while VHS copies were only available on the black market, the distributors simply decided to re-release Reservoir Dogs in UK cinemas in June 1994.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the tragic tale of Mr. White, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Pink, and Mr. Brown, director Quentin Tarantino revealed some never-before-heard secrets about the cult classic ‘Reservoir Dogs’.

Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, Tarantino reunited with cast members Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Steve Buscemi.

Across the panel conversation, certain secrets were brought to light – as Variety report.

Reservoir Dogs was almost a play

During a section of the talk, Keitel brought up how rigorous the rehearsal process was for this film. “We had two weeks of rehearsal, which is unheard of in Hollywood,” he said. “We actually almost went to four, because Quentin thought at one time about doing a play.”

Michael Madsen’s ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ dance was entirely spontaneous

One of the most standout moments of the film is when Mr. Blonde tortures a captured police office while dancing to the Stealers Wheel’s classic. However, that dance came out of nowhere. “I didn’t know what to do. In the script, it said, ‘Mr. Blonde maniacally dances around.’ And I kept thinking, ‘What the f**k does that mean? Like Mike Jagger, or what? What the f**k am I gonna do?’”

In one screening, 33 people walked out of the theatre

This is by no means a film for weak-stomached. The audiences of 1992 weren’t ready for the viscera of ‘Reservoir Dogs’ as Tarantino remembers: “I started counting the walkouts during the torture scene. 33 was the largest walkout.”

Tom Waits almost starred in the film

The director recalled. “A lot of really wild people came in and read the parts. Tom Waits came in and read. I had Tom Waits read the Madonna speech, just so I could hear Tom Waits say those lines.”

Last year, Tarantino (once again) confirmed that he plans to retire after his 10th movie. It’s not etched in stone, but that is the plan,” he said in 2014. “If I get to the 10th, do a good job and don’t screw it up, well that sounds like a good way to end the old career.”
